The Boy Who Loved : By Durjoy Dutta

Hey and once again welcome to all...
Bhavesh here, back with another review of  a very popular novel of year 2017.

This time I have the book of another very popular Indian writer other than Chetan Bhagat, and might you all are familiar with him if you are crazy about reading the novels. He's none other than Durjoy Datta. I really like his way of composing the story.

It was the time of mid June when I got this novel . One of my friend has ordered it  after one week  from the date of it's release from flipkart and when he finished it he suggested me to read it and so I borrowed the novel from him.

Author: Durjoy Datta

Date Published: May 25th  2017

Language: English

Number of Pages: 280

Genre: Romance

"This is just not a Love Story. It is much more than that."

A story of a boy who contemplates suicide. A story of a boy who loved with a backdrop of Indian middleclass consumed with their fanatism for their religion and Hindu-Muslim issue. A story that’s gloomy enough to linger in your thoughts for long. A story that’s thoughtful, beautiful and painful. The story also deals with some social issues of religion, the life of a depressed teenager and his suicidal tendencies and also with the very common problem of every family the generation gap.

Overview

Well, this story has Raghu Ganguly. Raghu likes to show that there is nothing remarkable about his life. loving middle class parents, an elder brother he looks up to, and plans to study in an IIT. And that's how he wants things to seem normal.

But deep down inside, he has grown silent after watching his friend drowning in a swimming pool before his eyes. Though he died naturally, this chap Raghu believes that he has killed him cold-bloodedly. Then, he meets Brahmi with whom he falls in love. Their story moves on but quite slowly. At times, many issues begin surrounding the characters of this book – mainly social issue. For example, Raghu’s brother wants to marry a Muslim girl. The characters are given in a situation but the author has not provided enough background information about them. They are more into actions and situations without credible sweeps. At times, the story also looks fractured. The book is everything but romantic. Many a time, as a reader, you may feel that the novel literally has been pushed into dark abysses of life.

Writing as usual is common. Of course, this book is better than his previous light romance books. He wanted to evolve as a writer with this book but he missed on many aspects…like narration, grip, pace, and climaxes. And especially the climax as it is very uneasy for the reader to accept it and the writer leaves you with some questions at last, and the answer to those questions are in the second part of this book which is...

This was already mentioned by the author during the release of first part that this book gonna have next part too.

Read this novel if you got some interest after reading this review and let me know about your review in comments.
